AWS re:Invent Conference: what it means for Quantify Technology

IoT, Amazon Alexa

With 55,000 people in attendance from different industries around the world, the 2018 Amazon Web Services (AWS) re:Invent conference was one Quantify Technology was not going to miss.

Quantify’s Chief Technology Officer and AWS cloud architect represented the Company at the week-long event in Las Vegas last month.

The annual event is a learning conference hosted by AWS for the global cloud computing community across five hotel venues. This year, it featured key note announcements, training and certification opportunities, access to more than 2,000 technical sessions, a partner expo, hands-on labs, after-hours events and more. There were also press events about which we will be able to say more in future.

Quantify, as part of the AWS Technology Partner Program, has harnessed the power and scale of the AWS server-less infrastructure, to provide a limitlessly scalable platform. Qumulus can increase or decrease in size as customer demand, and usage volume changes.

With technology and cloud infrastructure changing at a rapid pace, the conference was a means to discover what AWS were up to and to steer Quantify in the right direction with IoT and cloud technology.

Quantify’s representatives had one-on-one technical engagements at AWS. They returned to Perth with insight into new and existing features that the Company can leverage from AWS in relation to over-the-air updates and the potential issues associated with this.

They discussed the advantages and disadvantages on the location of the Company’s AWS cloud infrastructure and identified several considerations. Archtectural discussion included regional costings and data sovereignty considerations. That is the beauty of the AWS cloud; it delivers flexibility and security.

Now that the travelers have returned and reported back with positivity, there’s a sense of confidence in the choice to build the Qumulus cloud with AWS infrastructure.

There’s more to be learned but it’s excellent to know Quantify have a greater sense of direction following the conference. In January, they are off to CES in Las Vegas.
